the rise of two island record princesses
the two next it girls of our generation are chappell roan and sabrina carpenter! i feel lucky to have listened to them before they recently blew up. but please, let’s not pit queens against queens! yes they’re both sweet and upbeat pop, but their niches feel so different that i hardly want to compare them. it’s a bisexual drag queen vs the the straightest 'safest’ girl to ever exist. i think that chappell’s music is more interesting from the few songs i’ve heard, but as a full on sabrina stan i like how straightforward her music is. her lyrics are absolutely ass but you can tell it’s her words and she’s not trying to be pretentious about it (unlike another certain blondie) so when she says she’s working late cuz she’s a singer it’s just fun and silly and silly fun and the melodies and hooks are good. don’t say she’s vapid as if that’s an insult! do you think something like espresso or nonsense is supposed to be deep? let’s just have a good time, eh!
