つまりGimme Gimme Pleasure!

no more gimmicks, montero!

so j christ by lil nas x is out. i don't think it's good, it's pretty repetitive and bland, but it is catchy so it's been stuck in my head for the past few days despite listening to it twice.

i think the christian gimmick was so overplayed even with montero TBH. there's nothing wrong with incorporating themes of satanism and christianity and whatnot, but it was so over-the-top and unoriginal that there was nothing really appealing about it unlike gaga's judas or nicki's roman holiday. well, it was for shock value after all.

the best thing that came out of it was that it served as the introduction to industry baby, which is unironically a really, really good song even if jack harlow plagues it. that's what i want is also a killer song, as of course is old town road. while i don't remember the rest of the montero album, i genuinely believe that lil nas x is capable of making great music.

that's why seeing him lean into christianity for shock value this many years after his debut album really worries me. i don't want people to think of him as a guy who only has one gimmick to get heard! please prove yourself with your music...! i heard he was connecting with his spirituality again, so i wouldn't mind something with christian themes if it came from the heart! but as it is right now, he's just using the religion for marketing... and failing at that.

by the way, if i wanna hear someone hit a high note and acknowledge it, i'll go for my girl sabrina~...

i just read a tabloid article on how sabrina carpenter is dating barry keoghan. why did i have to see my crush's boyfriend's penis against my will? should i kill myself?
